Auctions allocate 2,600 MW of interruptible power to large consumers

Red Eléctrica de España has completed the process for assigning the interruptibility service through competitive bidding auctions with the allocation of a total of 8 blocks of 90 megawatts (MW) and 376 blocks of 5 MW, which translates into an interruptible power for the period 1 January to 31 May 2018 of 2,600 MW. There were 128 consumers involved in this auction.

The auctions, which took place in Valladolid from 18 to 20 December, were organised by Red Eléctrica as Auction Administrator, which today published the final results on the e-Sios website, which have already been validated by the National Securities Market and Competition Commission (CNMC).

The average allocation price for this auction was 235,167 euros/MW per year for products of 90 MW and 108,245 euros/MW per year for those of 5 MW. The weighted average allocation price was 143,393 euros/MW per year.

The starting prices set by the Secretary of State for Energy in the Resolution of 11 October 2017, were 270,000 euros/MW per year for products of 90 MW and 150,000 euros/MW per year for those of 5 MW.
