Support for the 10th anniversary celebration of IFISC
Collaboration agreement signed between the the University of the Balearic Islands and Red Eléctrica

The Chancellor of the University of the Balearic Islands, Llorenç Huguet, and Red Eléctrica’s Regional Delegate in the Balearic Islands, Eduardo Maynau, today signed an agreement whereby the Company will collaborate on the institutional events associated with the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC), which takes place this year. The event was also attended by the Director of IFISC, Maxi San Miguel and the university’s Vice-chancellor for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, Jordi Llabrés.

Red Eléctrica will contribute 12,000 euros towards the holding of the ‘Crossroad in Complex Systems’ conference organised by IFISC, to be held this June, that will be dedicated to complex sciences, debating new opportunities and to the social relevance of the research in this field.

Among other events, a roundtable will be organised with the participation of directors of international centres for complex sciences and also an exhibition on Red Eléctrica’s management of the transmission grid; as a model of a complex system that interrelates various elements that, analysed as a whole, cannot be explained on the basis of the characteristics of the individual elements on their own.

The agreement is included within the framework agreement signed by the Universitat de les Illes Balears and Red Eléctrica in 2015. That year, the Company collaborated on the Il.lumina't exhibition, to celebrate the International Year of Light.

In this way, Red Eléctrica, as part of its corporate responsibility programme, contributes not only to activities of common public interest, but also to backing progress of the communities in which the Company’s facilities are located.
